Assistant Dean of Academic Administration
 
Dean College has an immediate opening for an Assistant Dean of Academic Administration. As a member of the Academic Affairs leadership team, the Assistant Dean will be closely involved with the oversight and administration of numerous academic initiatives including student honor societies and awards programs recognition; collaborate on management of faculty committees and with faculty on Faculty Handbook processes, oversight and production of the Academic Catalog and related print material; working with Deans and Department Chairs to provide administrative leadership and management of faculty search efforts, curriculum processes such as program reviews, and other academic projects and duties as assigned. As part of the standard workload, this individual will teach one course annually in his/her field of academic expertise. The position will report to the Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs.
 
Qualifications   A minimum of a Master's Degree is required; an earned doctorate is preferred. Additionally, this position requires a minimum of three (3) years of full-time teaching at the postsecondary level. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent leadership, organizational and project management skills through prior professional work experience, preferably in an academic setting

Assistant Professor of English and Composition

The Humanities Department at Dean College invites applications for an Assistant Professor of English. This is a new full-time position beginning in September 2008, focused on teaching in the writing program and helping to strengthen the department’s commitment to student writing and research skills.

Qualifications  PhD in Rhetoric Composition or English, with priority given to candidates who have teaching experience in a 2-year college and/or the first two years of an undergraduate experience as well as upper level teaching, and an understanding of composition pedagogy. Dean will consider applicants that have experience and interest in teaching analytical and research skills to developing college writers.

Dean College is currently seeking qualified candidates for adjunct positions to teach the following courses - Introduction to Philosophy; Critical Thinking and Ethics. The successful candidates will provide classroom instruction in accordance with established course outlines. Standard duties expected of all faculty include facilitating quality learning, development and evaluation of curricula, maintaining scheduled office hours, and performing other duties consistent with the role of an instructor.

Area Coordinator for Community Development
 
Dean College is currently looking to hire an Area Coordinator for Community Development. 
The Area Coordinator for Community Development assists in the planning and administration of the residence life program, with direct responsibilities for educational programming and the Community Advisor Program. The Area Coordinator is responsible for facilitating and maintaining a living and learning environment in a residential area comprised of 3 halls and approximately 300 students. Additionally, the Area Coordinator assists the Director of Residence Life with summer conferences and programs, serves on various campus committees, participates in a regular, weekly on-call rotation, as well as any additional responsibilities necessary.   
 
This is a 12 month, live-in position in a residence hall. Room, board, utilities, parking and full College benefits included.
 
Qualifications  Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred. Preferred 1-3 years experience in Residence Life.

Personalized Learning Services Part Time Academic Coach
  
Dean College is accepting applications for part-time academic coaches for the fall 2008 semester. The academic coach at Dean College provides a strategy-based approach to academic support for students enrolled in Personalized Learning Services (PLS), a fee-based tutoring program open to all students at the institution.  Academic coaches work with students to address immediate needs, while developing long-term independent skills in studying, reading, writing and mathematics.  Academic coaches help students become independent learners and to eventually transition away from tutorial support. Time management, organization and long-term planning are some of the skills that students gain through their experience in PLS. 
 
Qualifications   Master's Degree in Education, Special Education or related field and experience working with students with special learning needs, preferably at the college level. Preference will be given to those with math or reading teaching or tutoring background.

Professional Note Taker

Dean College is seeking a part-time Professional Note Taker to provide support to students with disabilities. The qualified candidate will have excellent typing, communication, administrative and customer service skills. Primary duties include providing note taking in courses and exam proctoring for students with disabilities. This is a fall-spring semester part-time position (5-10 hours/week over several days). 

 Qualifications   Associate’s Degree preferred with 2+ years administrative experience; excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to multi task and handle confidential information;  and demonstrated proficiency in MS Office products such as Word and Excel.  Some flexibility in scheduling is also preferred.

Part Time Resident Director
 
The Office of Residence Life is seeking candidates to fill one part-time Resident Director Position for the upcoming Fall Semester. Reporting to the Director of Residence Life, the Resident Director is responsible for the daily management of one residence hall, which includes working with student staff regarding resident issues and promoting community development. The part time RD position requires a commitment of 15-18 hours per week which includes, but is not limited to, “open door” hours, on-duty rotation, programming efforts, lower level judicial hearings and weekly professional staff meetings. Position is available immediately.
 
This is a 12 month, live-in position. Compensation includes an on-campus apartment, with all utilities, basic cable, and local phone service included as well as a full meal plan. 
 
Qualifications  Bachelor’s degree required, previous residential life experience is a plus, but not required. Candidate must have demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, a strong work ethic, flexibility, and a genuine interest and concern for students’ development and well-being.   Mediation/conflict resolution training a plus.

The Athletic Department at Dean College is currently looking to hire Part Time Assistant Coaches in the following positions:
• Assistant Baseball Coach

These candidates will assist the head coach of the respective NJCAA teams in practice and game management, as well as recruiting and scouting responsibilities.

Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree preferred with coaching experience at the high school or post-secondary level (or equivalent).
