Program Overview
The Public Health Bachelor of Arts degree at Dean takes a holistic approach to health, exploring essential variables at the individual, community, national, and international levels. You will learn to assess health needs, develop interventions, and advocate for policies that promote health, equity, and social justice.
Dean College offers a bachelor’s degree and a minor in Public Health.
As a Public Health major at Dean, you will also learn how to:
- Evaluate the failures and successes of modern public health policies
- Assess the historical context of public health policies
- Source, analyze and explain epidemiological data to inform policy design
- Implement modern qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Critically examine communication about public health
- Engage in a critical analysis of the social determinants of health and health behaviors of diverse populations, healthcare, and creation of public health policy
- Assess the strengths and weaknesses of any given healthcare system
Upon completion of the bachelor’s degree program at Dean, you will graduate with the skills necessary to begin your career in public health. Students may alternatively choose to attend graduate school with a focus on research, medicine, policy development, and/or advocacy.
