After becoming the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) champions in 2019, the football team is back in action this season. Wide receiver Errol Breaux ’22, a Business Management major, kicker Jacob Bisson ’22, a Sport Management major, wide receiver Ki’sean Bullard ’23, a Communications major, and left guard Anthony Mauro ’22, a Communications major, spoke with us about their experiences on the team as they look to defend their title.

Q: What is your favorite thing about being on the football team?

Errol: “Being able to do what I love the most with my family on this team and learning from our coaches here at Dean.”

Jacob: “Being able to compete every day and be a part of something bigger than myself.”

Ki’sean: “We are one family and stick together no matter what.”

Anthony: “Seeing all the guys, coming together to work and becoming champions.”

Q: How has being a student-athlete shaped your Dean experience?

Errol: “Being a student-athlete is tough but rewarding. I've had to learn to manage my time between academics, practice, traveling, games, workouts or meetings. I've made a commitment to my team, coaches, teachers and myself to be determined to be my best. To ask for help when it's needed and work hard because it will pay off. One of the important things is my team – I wouldn't be able to accomplish all I have without them on that field. I have to believe in myself, be grateful and stay true to myself as a student-athlete.”

Jacob: “My experience as a student-athlete has opened me up to new opportunities and has given me lifelong friends.”

Ki’sean: “It has played a huge role and helped get my face out on campus – a majority of the staff know me.”

Anthony: “It has helped me become better at planning my day out.”

Q: What is your favorite thing about Dean?

Errol: “Getting the chance to play football each week with my teammates and to continue to improve our skills on the field.”

Jacob: “The opportunities available to every student, and being able to connect with staff and get more of an individual education.”

Ki’sean: “Feeling safe after coming from a tough neighborhood.”

Anthony: “My teammates and the food.”

Q: What are you most excited about this season?

Errol: “This being my last season playing college football, I just want to give it my all and graduate knowing I made a difference for our team on that field each day. Our main goal this season is to get another ECFC Championship title and I couldn't be more excited to accomplish that.”

Jacob: “I am excited to defend our conference title and work to be the first Dean team to make the NCAA playoffs.”

Ki’sean: “I’m excited about the coaching staff. The guys have prepared us all to have a good season and accomplish our goals.”

Anthony: “Working towards being back-to-back ECFC champs.”
