After a long off-season, the men’s soccer team is thrilled to be back on the field. Goalkeeper Bryce Antoch ’22, a Sports Broadcasting major, defender/midfielder Angel Rivera ’23, a Sport Management major, and left center back Liam Crowley ’23, a Liberal Arts and Studies major, shared their experiences about playing soccer at Dean and what they’re most looking forward to this season.

Q: What is your favorite thing about being on the men’s soccer team?

Bryce: My favorite thing about being on men’s soccer is that we are a band of brothers that have fun, and are constantly learning and growing with each other on and off the field. We enjoy our time together and cherish it, knowing how quickly it can be taken away. No matter what, we look out for one another and have each other’s backs. We are a resilient group, and if we get knocked down, we’re right back up.

Angel: The camaraderie we have as a team is unlike any other. We all play and fight for one another like we are family. Coach Campbell has done an amazing job creating a positive atmosphere where we are practically itching to get to practice and play in games.

Liam: My favorite thing about being a part of my team is how well everyone has bonded so quickly. I know I'll be calling the guys on the team my brothers even after I graduate.

Q: How has being a student-athlete shaped your Dean experience?

Bryce: My experience as a student-athlete has been tremendous. Throughout all four years of my time here, my professors and coaches have been supportive and pushed me to grow to heights I never thought imaginable. For me, it was easy to find a balance of schoolwork and soccer. Now, I look forward to being able to share what I’ve learned with this year’s class so they can enjoy their time as much as I have.

Angel: Playing soccer at Dean has introduced me to some of the best people around campus. I’m way more active and involved in the school because I get to go to events with my teammates.

Liam: Being a student-athlete has helped me practice my time management skills as well as build relationships with people that enjoy the same pastimes as me.

Q: What is your favorite thing about Dean?

Bryce: My favorite thing about Dean is that it provides every student with the ability to gain real-world experience no matter what year you are. As a first-year student, I was presented the opportunity to broadcast games, do talk-radio, and become a DJ on the school radio station, Power 88. This is something that Dean has offered me that other institutions cannot replicate.

Angel: I love the diversity. It’s really unique because there are people from all over the world that come from of all walks of life.

Liam: How connected the community is. I've met a ton of new people since my freshman year here and one thing I've noticed is how friendly everyone is.

Q: What are you most excited about this season?

Bryce: I’m most excited to be part of an incredible team of hard-working players that all aspire for the same goal: winning the conference.

Angel: Getting to play competitively again after almost two years off is one of the best feelings. Every time I step onto the field, I have to play like it’s my last because you never know what might happen again.

Liam: I'm most excited about finally getting back on the field after a long off-season and competing in a tougher conference with my teammates.
