The women’s volleyball team has one unbeatable bond. We checked in with middle blocker Sari Albury ’23, a Biology major and Psychology minor, middle blocker Janai Price ’25, a Sociology major, outside hitter Emily Larouche ’25, a Business Management major, and middle blocker Milly Alvarez ’22, a Psychology major, on how their season was going and how being student-athletes has impacted their time at Dean.

Q: What is your favorite thing about being on the women’s volleyball team?

Sari: “Being on my team gives me the wonderful opportunity to build long-lasting and meaningful relationships. I am also blessed to have teammates that push me to become a better person.”

Janai: “The team bonding that we do, because nothing’s better than karaoke night with my teammates.”

Emily: “The bond that we have already made together. I feel like I could go to any of my teammates for anything and they would be there. They support my accomplishments and pick me up when I’m down too.”

Milly: “That we have a strong sisterhood bond.”

Q: How has being a student-athlete shaped your Dean experience?

Sari: “Being a student-athlete here at Dean has taught me discipline, time management, respect, perseverance and teamwork. These tools in particular will remain with me as I journey throughout life.”

Janai: “As a freshman, it can be hard to adjust to college, but being able to come to Dean early for preseason and meet so many new people who are in the same student-athlete boat as me is a great experience.”

Emily: “My experience as a student-athlete at Dean College has been awesome! I met so many people and it’s nice to have people who understand what it takes to be a student-athlete and who are right beside you through all the hard work.”

Milly: “I have been able to get more involved with Dean and get to know the Dean community better.”

Q: What is your favorite thing about Dean?

Sari: “My favorite thing about Dean would definitely have to be the friendliness of the students, staff and faculty. I also appreciate that I have a sense of being ‘home’ whenever I am here.”

Emily: “Everyone is so welcoming and supportive!”

Milly: “My favorite thing about Dean is that there is always a new Dean Difference to experience.”
