Gain personalized learning support through the academic coaching program at Dean College
About Academic Coaching
Academic Coaching is a collaborative, goal-oriented relationship focused on developing a student’s skills and strategies for academic success. It involves one-on-one or small group sessions where the coach helps the student set goals, create action plans, and access additional academic resources. The coach acts as a facilitator, guiding the student to discover and utilize their strengths, overcome challenges, and build effective habits for long-term success. By using a Collaborative Coaching model, coaches work to achieve the following goals:
- Understand their student’s learning preferences.
- Model planning and organizational skills.
- Help improve their student’s academic performance through goal setting, time management, motivation, and self-regulation strategies.
- Emphasize their student's personal academic growth and development by encouraging self-discovery and proactive problem-solving.
- Aim to develop their student’s overall academic skills and strategies and foster independent learning by connecting them with on-campus resources.
- Facilitate their student’s ability to manage their academic workload and develop effective habits for long term academic success.
All of Dean’s coaches are master’s degree level educators with a variety of backgrounds and specialties.
